FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1) Am I going to get hurt?
All students are closely observed because this martial art is very dangerous. All techniques are done at slower speed. Safety gear is worn because safety is a top priority in our dojo.

2) Do I need prior training ?
Prior training is not needed, in fact, sometimes it's better to have a clean slate with no prior training habits to break.

3) Does this dojo compete often in tournaments?
Ninjutsu is not a sport-oriented system. It was developed for the martialist and it remains entirely faithful to the warrior way. So much so that we do not compete in tournaments at all. In fact, the absence of a competitive environment in our dojo provides a uniquely supportive community of students. You will notice when you visit us that we are all dedicated to learning from and helping each other as we make this journey together.

4) How long will it take me to reach blackbelt?
If classes are attended regularly, and tests are taken as scheduled, you will reach blackbelt rank in about 4 years.

5) I have prior experience in another martial art - will this help or hinder me?
Prior training is not needed and all martial arts experiences are welcome. Objectively, Ninjutsu should only add to prior training experiences. Hinderences are only of the mind.

6) If I get my son involved, isn't he going to just wind up hurting someone at school?
Our students are actually less apt to become combative because they develop a healthy respect for the body. Ninjutsu is a commitment which includes confidence building, discipline of the mind, and respect for all human beings.

7) Will I get a good aerobic workout doing Budo Taijutsu?
Absolutely. Budo Taijutsu is not a regimen of pushups and sit-ups: it works all the muscles of the body. Also, because your focus is on the training itself, often it is not until after the session that you notice the sweat you've been wiping from your brow. Of course, it's about what you put into it, but many of our students will proudly tell you of the weight they have lost and the conditioning they have developed while training with us.

8) Will I get to learn all those weapons?
Depending upon level and rank, you will learn various weapons associated with your Ninjutsu training. Example: Blue Belts work all basic striking techniques of the hanbo (3 foot stick)
