Ninjutsu is Progressive

Unlike other groups like the Samurai, the Ninja did not develop their art with a mindset to serve a lord, and therefore the style in itself transcended any need to adhere to established rules of conduct or engagement. As its name implies, with “Nin” meaning “to endure”, Ninjutsu was developed as a means for a warrior to fight effectively and survive long days on the battlefield. Much of this approach pervades in today’s Ninjutsu, as students refine techniques that draw power from effective body movement instead of relying on muscular stature.
